Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.’
Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage
Setting the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five
At Lyon Park Primary School the Early Years consists of a large Nursery and a four form entry Reception. We follow the Statutory Framework of the EYFS and the four guiding principles that shape practice within Early Years settings.
- A Unique Child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
Early Years education is the foundation upon which children build the rest of their lives. It is a crucial stage of life in terms of children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development and well-being. When planning in the Early Years we take all of these into account as well as your child’s previous knowledge and needs.
Our nursery admits 80 children and offers 40 places in the morning and 40 in the afternoon. Children can attend five morning or five afternoon sessions a week
Morning session: 8.45-11.45
Afternoon Session: 12.45- 3.45
To help us provide the best learning experiences for your child we build a positive, caring and professional relationship with both you and your child. As well as meetings arranged with you by the Early Years team you are also encouraged to visit the Nursery or Reception throughout the year. This will give you the opportunity to know more about your child’s development and how to support them at home.
If you would like to apply for a place in the nursery then please contact the school office.
Applications for a Reception place need to be done via Brent Admissions
